Clinical Skills - Adult/Adolescent
Registered nurses, advanced practice nurses, physicians, and physician assistants who have completed a 40 hour Adult/Adolescent Sexual Assault classroom course and are serving American Indian/Alaska Native patients are invited to attend this two day, hands-on clinical skills training. Participants will develop and enhance their clinical practice skills in the care of adult victims of sexual assault. This training will simulate the patient care setting and include hands-on activities, such as forensic photography of genital and non-genital trauma and simulated patient experiences using live models.
Professional Requirements: You must hold an active, unrestricted license as an RN, Advanced Practice RN, MD, DO, or PA to take this course. This course is intended for practitioners who will be performing hands-on Medical Forensic Exams.

Target Audience: This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of nurses and physicians involved in the treatment and care of patients who have been victims of sexual assault.
Course Length: 16 hours
Cost: Registration is free to providers from IHS, Tribal, and Urban Indian health care facilities. Providers from referral facilities that serve American Indian or Alaska Native victims of sexual abuse are also eligible to attend at no cost.
While the training itself is free of charge, all travel arrangements including hotel, airfare, meals and incidentals will be the financial responsibility of the student attending the clinical. Students will be provided with an information sheet with nearby hotels and airports, however they must make their own travel arrangements.
